In the attached article, reprinted from Colorado Lawyer in February, 2020, Sharon Sturges and Doug McQuiston explore and discuss the use of online dispute resolution for alternative dispute resolution in Colorado. Sharon Sturges is the director of the Office of Dispute Resolution and coordinator of the Access and Visitation Program for the Colorado court system. Doug McQuiston is a mediator panelist with Accord ADR Group in Boulder.


Their article, titled "Online Dispute Resolution - A Digital Door to Justice or Pandora's Box?" was published in three (3) parts in Colorado Lawyer, beginning in February, 2020 and continued in March and April, 2020.


  • Part 1 discusses how video conference mediation can bridge geographic distances, address obstacles in gathering in the same physical location and deliver a satisfying "face-to-face" experience.

  • Part 2 discusses ODR applications that use artificial intelligence to facilitate quick resolution of conflicts.

  • Part 3 considers ethical issues surrounding the use of ODR.
